Foundational Family Services through OAP

Overview

Foundational Family Services (FFS) are free, non-clinical supports available any child with an Ontario Autism Program (OAP) number and delivered by professionals in a variety of ways. These supports help caregivers learn strategies to support development in areas like communication, emotional regulation, and daily living.


Tips

Keep the following tips in mind to make the most out of these resources:

  • Understand What is Included: Foundational services are not direct 1-on-1 therapy for your child, but rather tools to empower caregivers. 
  • Don't Wait to Start: FFS are accessible immediately after registering your child in the AccessOAP portal, meaning you do not have to wait for your formal Core Clinical Funding to begin.
  • Be Proactive: AccessOAP will not necessarily contact you about FFS, you will need to find and register.
  • Anywhere in Ontario: You can register for any FFS program, even if is offered by a service provider in another community.
  • Mix and Match Services: FFS encompasses a wide variety of formats (in-person, virtual) so take advantage of different offerings based on what works best for your child and your family.
  • Check Back Frequently: New programs and workshops are added throughout the year so check regularly.
  • No limit: This is no limit on the number of FSS programs you can register for.
